Bengaluru-based spacetech startup OXG Space has secured ₹17 crore in funding led by Aum Ventures to develop satellite connectivity and in-orbit computing technologies, with its Mission Synapse programme set to demonstrate key systems in space.

BENGALURU, October 18, 2026: Indian spacetech startup OXG Space has raised ₹17 crore in a funding round led by Aum Ventures through its India Innovation Fund II. The investment will support the development of satellite connectivity infrastructure and in-orbit computing capabilities designed to reduce the time between capturing satellite imagery and delivering actionable information.
According to a report by Moneycontrol published on October 14, the funding round also includes investments from Skyroot Aerospace co-founders Pawan Kumar Chandana and Bharath Daka, along with Cosmoserve founder Dr Chiran Phanindra.
Founded by former Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) engineers Akash Shetty and Sanjay Gorur, OXG Space aims to develop an orbital network that combines satellite communications with onboard computing capabilities.
Earth-observation satellites collect large volumes of imagery and other data used across applications such as environmental monitoring, infrastructure assessment, defence and intelligence. However, delivering this information to users can take time because satellites often need to establish contact with ground stations before transferring their data for processing.
OXG Space aims to address this challenge by enabling satellites to process information directly in orbit and transmit relevant outputs more efficiently. The approach could reduce reliance on ground-based infrastructure and help users access time-sensitive intelligence sooner.
The company describes its vision as creating “edge cell towers in space”, combining satellite connectivity with computing capabilities. Its proposed architecture draws on concepts associated with 5G non-terrestrial networks while extending processing capabilities beyond conventional ground infrastructure.
The newly raised capital will support Mission Synapse, a 12-month programme intended to demonstrate OXG Space’s core technologies in orbit.
The programme focuses on three key technology components:
The successful demonstration of these systems will be an important step in assessing the technical feasibility of the company’s proposed orbital connectivity and computing network.
OXG Space was founded by Akash Shetty and Sanjay Gorur, who bring more than 17 years of combined experience, according to the information reported about the company. Their professional backgrounds include spacecraft systems associated with India’s Chandrayaan-2 and Chandrayaan-3 missions.
The founders’ experience in India’s space programme provides a technical foundation for the startup as it works to develop infrastructure for next-generation satellite communications and data processing.
Aum Ventures led the funding round through its India Innovation Fund II, bringing additional investor attention to India’s emerging spacetech and deep-tech ecosystem.
The firm’s investment portfolio includes companies such as Skyroot Aerospace and Cosmoserve. Aum Ventures is also raising a ₹750-crore India Innovation Fund II to support early-stage deep-tech businesses, as reported in the funding coverage.
Investment in businesses such as OXG Space reflects interest in technologies that could strengthen India’s capabilities in satellite infrastructure, advanced communications and space-based services.
Faster satellite data processing could have applications in several sectors where the timely delivery of information is important.
In Earth observation, quicker access to processed imagery could support environmental monitoring, disaster response and infrastructure tracking. In defence and intelligence, more responsive satellite systems could help improve situational awareness and coordination.
However, the commercial impact of OXG Space’s technology will depend on its ability to demonstrate reliable in-orbit performance and translate its proposed capabilities into practical services for satellite operators and other customers.
Mission Synapse is the startup’s next important milestone. Its progress will help determine whether the company can demonstrate the connectivity, computing and power systems required for its proposed orbital network.
Key developments to watch include successful in-orbit testing, the performance and reliability of its communication links, and the development of a commercially viable offering for the satellite industry.
For India’s spacetech sector, the funding adds to the growing interest in technologies that extend satellite capabilities beyond data collection towards faster processing and delivery of useful information.
OXG Space’s ₹17 crore funding round will help the Bengaluru startup advance its vision of combining satellite connectivity with in-orbit computing. Through Mission Synapse, the company aims to demonstrate technologies that could reduce delays in accessing satellite-derived information.
The programme’s results will be crucial in determining how effectively the startup can turn its technical ambitions into scalable services for India’s expanding space technology ecosystem.
